A space shuttle mission investigating Halley's Comet brings back a malevolent race of space vampires who transform most of London's population into zombies. The only survivor of the expedition and British authorities attempt to capture a mysterious but beautiful alien woman who appears responsible.
Halley's Comet returns to the solar system and the English/American team aboard the shuttle "Churchill", making a close-up survey of the comet, discovers an alien spacecraft in the head of the comet. Inside the spacecraft are some large bat-like creatures and in three cocoons are three "dead" humans - two men and a woman. The "Churchill" takes the humans and a creature back to Earth. There the bosses of the project are amazed to find the shuttle burnt out and all but one of the crew - Carlsen - dead. The humans from the spacecraft suddenly awake and all those who come into contact with them are drained of their "lifeforce" and in time all the victims - including most of the population of London - are turned into zombies all preying on the horrified survivors for their "lifeforce". It's up to Carlsen and Major Caine of the SAS to stop them before the whole world turns into a big blood-hunt…
And although it's kinda trashy mix of Alien and zombies, it is not without entertainment value. Male reviews rhapsody about nude vampire succubus par excellence, space girl with lethal kiss, and she is indeed impressive mix of seductiveness and danger, when she vamps her way through the adoring male population. Like her look-a-like, enchanting vampire succubus Clarimonde in eponymous episode from TV series Hunger, and unlike plastic Natasha Henstridge from terrible Species, she is actually great fun to watch. There is nice nods to the vampire movie lore - bats, staking, hypnosis - and good Henry Mancini score. It's basically just trashy scifi/horror mix - after all, it is directed by Tobe "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" Hooper, produced by Cannon Films and written by Dan "Alien" O'Bannon - but sometimes kinda fun.
This flick is one of the weirdest genre-mixes ever. It is in-between science fiction, vampire, and zombie movies. It is as sexy as some vampire flicks, and as gory as a zombie movie. It&#39;s more absurd, ridicules and exaggerated than most other science fiction movies. Some conversations are so badly acted, and are exaggerated so much, that it turned into pure amusement! It is one of the rare trash movies, where the trash actually is fun. Some special effects have been great, other made me smirk.<br/><br/>I wouldn&#39;t give this movie 6 points if its simply amusing trash. It&#39;s more than that. Some scenes are played greatly, the atmosphere has sometimes been absolutely stunning. And the story, while absurd and ridicules, has been very creative, interesting and unusual. I had a hell lot of fun watching this movie. Yet this isn&#39;t exactly a good movie but, it isn&#39;t a bad one either.

2 real possibilities, firstly that they&#39;re both dead and their energy released as with the rest of the victims. Secondly that they are still alive and preserved on the ship and will return with Halley&#39;s comet in the mid 21st centuary Open to interpretation, either the energy of the human souls has been used to revive the vampires in their crystal coffins or the humans have actually become the new vampires and are preserved until the ship returns to Earth with Halley&#39;s comet. The only released version in Germany e.g. is the Theatrical Version. In the UK and US on the other hand, the only available DVD Version is the longer Original Version, referred to as Director&#39;s Cut. Lots of footage got cut out but most of the cuts were probably made for pace. Lots of scenes refering to vampires have been removed. Apart from that, the investigations of incidents with vampires, which have been cut out from the Theatrical Version, are much shorter as well. Some scenes really benefit from this because the timing is better but in most cases, the Director&#39;s Cut is the better and more convincing version. In total there are more than 100 hundred differences between both versions resulting in a difference of more than 14 minutes.
